Seattle captured their fifth consecutive home playoff win with a 41-36 triumph over the defending World Champion New Orleans Saints. Matt Hasselbeck set a postseason club record with four TD passes. Marshawn Lynch electrified the crowd with what many are calling one of the greatest runs in NFL history with a 67-yard TD in which he broke as many as eight tackles. The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network registered activity generated from the stadium during the time of Lynch’s run.

Seattle trades its first-round draft choice (#16) and a third-round pick to Buffalo for the Bills’ first-round choice, the tenth player in the draft. The Seahawks then select defensive end Jacob Green of Texas A&M in the first round.

Seattle became the 12th team in NFL  history to advance to the Super Bowl after winning it the previous year by defeating the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game, 28-22, in OT. Seattle overcame a 16-point, second-half deficit to win after Russell Wilson connected with Jermaine Kearse on a 35-yard TD to end the game. It marked Seattle’s ninth consecutive postseason win at home, tied for the third-longest streak in NFL  history. The game also marked a record for CenturyLink Field attendance record with 68,538 12s on hand.
