Dan Quinn, the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, reaches a contract agreement with the Falcons to become their head coach. Quinn coached the defensive line in 2009 and 2010 before leaving the Seahawks to become defensive coordinator at the University of Florida. He returned in 2013 to be the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator after Gus Bradley left to become head coach of the Jaguars.

Ferrell Edmunds, two-time Pro Bowl tight end with the Miami Dolphins, signs as an unrestricted free agent. Edmunds, a five-year veteran, is the first free agent to sign with the Seahawks under the NFL new free agency system.

Seattle closes out the regular season with a 31-14 Kingdome loss to the AFC West Champion San Diego Chargers. Chris Warren becomes only the second player in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards, finishing the season with 1,017.
